I graduated in 1992 with a Master of Arts in Education in Counseling from Wake Forest University and have worked in the field of mental health since the 1980s in a variety of settings: public youth and family counseling agencies, a private psychiatric practice, and most recently in both public and charter schools as a school counselor.  I also served as the photography department chair at the Sawtooth School for Visual Arts and developed the Healing & Wellness Through the Arts program in 2012 at the Sawtooth School.

My hobbies are photography, writing, music (both listening to and performing music), and being in nature. I love animals and particularly love my work with horses. My soul is quenched in the mountains, and I love making trips to the Asheville area. I love spending time with my family and two dogs, Zuzu and Bugsy.

Since my first counseling internship in 1984, I have dedicated my life’s work to helping others. The human journey is absolutely fascinating to me and I have a passion for connecting with people and hearing their unique stories. I’m a big fan of mindfulness practice; I like to relate to people where they are right now, helping to alleviate stress by staying centered on the present moment.

My focus areas are EMDR, grief counseling, women’s issues, caregiving, mindfulness, and artistic approaches to conflict resolution, stress management, self-esteem, and empowerment.  My primary goal is to help people find meaningful connections in their lives and stay focused on positive relationships that are encouraging and nurturing.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. My individual and group counseling sessions take place at Evaluation & Education Services, LLC. I am presently seeing adults over the age of 25.

My Equine Assisted Learning sessions are open to adults and children, and take place in partnership with equine specialist Laura Pallavicini, at the beautiful 3P Farm.

I see clients both in person and via secure telehealth.

I look forward to joining you on your journey!

Amanda Sullivan, MAEd, LCMHC
